Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the border from next door Thailand, in which casino gambling is not legal. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a generally tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect location, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are allegedly required to pass, there are methods around this, as is real of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge casino, features one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty table games. The Naga gambling den is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel compound that features a number of luxuries accompanying the gambling den, which offers 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machine games and 88 gaming tables.
