Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling den gaming is against the law. Eight casinos are situated in a generally small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and though visas are for all intents and purposes needed to pass, there are means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.
The initial Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat gambling hall, contains 150 slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel building that highlights many amenities in addition to the casino, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
