Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is an interesting background to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling den betting is not legal. Eight casinos are situated in a generally small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect spot, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, financial sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are apparently needed to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of most borders.
The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat casino, features 150 slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel building that features numerous comforts on top of the casino, which has 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight tables.
